A group of children from Penarth Woodcraft Folk received their Level 1 and 2 cycle proficiency certificates at a recent weekly meeting. Earlier this year, the group had two full days of training provided by 'Cycle Training Wales', a local social enterprise company. Training included lots of on-road skill development and cycle games to build confidence. Several parents commented how much safer they feel about their child cycling, and pleased that they can now use local cycle routes with confidence. Since the children's early involvement in the campaign for the new Pont y Werin crossing, including having their name for the bridge selected, the group has looked at more ways to promote safe cycling. The training project was generously supported by the Vale of Glamorgan Council through the Wellbeing Activity Grant Scheme.
